Did you search for a commercial glass door installation near me to help solve your dirty windows? There’s just something about a dirty window with white streaks that makes you want to take a cloth and clean it. The Monica in all of us comes out occasionally but in full force, and that’s when the cleaner sprays, sponges, and rags make an appearance. Wouldn’t you agree?
The thing is ― we are completely against glass cleaners!
Commercial glass cleaners have alcohol or ammonia in them. While they seem to give your windows an intense clean, they leave streaks behind. Moreover, they create a thin film on the glass that attracts moisture and dust.
If you have a stubborn stain on your window, you will get better results with rubbing alcohol or acetone on it. Scrub the stain and then wipe the window with a DIY solution.
For most people, the main concern is streaking, which is why we are sharing with you a few DIY recipes that will make your window spotless.
The Power of Vinegar
One of the most important ingredients in our DIY cleaning solution is vinegar. Its acidic composition breaks down the film that accumulates dust and causes streaks. Here’s how to make the vinegar cleaning solution:
*Clean your windows when the sun is not shining directly on them.
1st Vinegar Wash
- Water: 2 Cups
- White Vinegar: ¼ Cup
- Dishwashing Detergent: ½ Teaspoon
Combine these ingredients in a spray bottle and give them a twirl. Spray the window with the solution, and use a soft cloth to remove any stains. Spray the window with the solution again, wet a squeegee, and then wipe the window from edge to edge. Make sure to wipe the squeegee in between strokes.
If there are stubborn stains on the window, slightly warm the vinegar and spray it mixed with other ingredients on the window.
Rubbing Alcohol Solution
For crusted stains stuck to the window, substitute the dishwashing detergent with rubbing alcohol.
- Water: 1 Cup
- White Vinegar: 3 Tablespoons
- Rubbing Alcohol: ¼ Cup
Combine these ingredients in a spray bottle and give them a twirl. Spray the window with the solution and use a soft cloth to remove any stains. Use a squeegee and then wipe the window from edge to edge. Make sure to wipe the squeegee in between strokes.
If you still see a mark or two in the corner of the window, use a lint-free, microfiber cloth to wipe it.
And that’s how you clean windows that show your reflection! The trick is to use the squeegee in horizontal moves. So, they overlap each other and remove any moisture and dirt from the top and bottom. If your window panes are a bit blurry, perhaps replacing them should be an option.
